No Time to Blog

Posted by realityrounds on November 3, 2009

My blog is currently failure to thrive.  Please do not call CPS (or Blog PS, blog protective services, that is) on me.  I have a lot of half- written posts, not published.  They include four different deliveries I encountered in one shift, that stupid “Mercy” show about a nurse,  the recent data on US infant mortality, screaming during labor, and some posts on skin to skin care for infants and micro preemies.    Whew.  So many topics, so little time.

These factors have kept me from blogging:

  • First grade.  I actually finished first grade, but my current first grader is in the thick of it.  She happens to be in a “gifted or accelerated” program, which is a blessing and a curse.  Who knew I would be up all night Googling first grade curriculums at all hours of the night.  I promised myself I would not be that mom….and here we are.
  • My day job.  Yes, I have an actual job caring for patients and such.  I am in the process of writing/revising 16 maternal/child policies.  Fun, fun, fun.  I have actually developed a very annoying eye twitch from being on the computer so much.  Anyone else ever had this?
  • My body.  I decided to take care of my body and stop blaming my kids for every extra pound I put on.  I am not four years postpartum, I am overweight.  I admit it.  Time to take care of it.
  • Sleep…..is…..Good!

Some one tell me how to balance mommyhood, wifehood, workhood, bloghood, friendshiphood  and healthhood to equal a happy well balanced life.  If Martha Stewart is reading, do not bother replying.  I read somewhere that you only sleep four hours a night and your blood is made of ice water.

Night, night,

RR

Those eye twitches are from fatigue. Take some vitamins and get some rest.

Good luck. Having smart kids is both a blessing and a bit of a curse. Fighting that fight myself. Have you checked out hoagiesgifted.com ? Lots of good info there.

Overweight? Surely you jest. And I can say this because I have met you in person!

I had the eye-twitch for an entire semester of midwifery school. It was ridiculous. I was almost considering getting a botox injection to kill whatever nerve was irritating the tiny muscle. (I have to stop Googling my symptoms!) Then it spontaneously went away when my life quieted down some. I would try Calcium and Magnesium supplements in the meantime.

    • The eye twitch is so annoying. People are actually starting to notice it. I have also heard potassium helps. Eat bananas, etc.

Well, I could be nice and say poor baby too much on the plate, back off the blogging. Nah. I’m going to be Al Francken all about me. Do not stop blogging..you do not want my withdrawal on your conscience. :)
In all honesty, don’t know how you do it all but just so you know, you’re an inspiration.

oy you do sound busy! I hope you get to rest and take care of yourself, but I do admit those half written blog posts sound very interesting and I hope I get to read them someday!
