Michael Jackson Would Be Alive Today, If He Had a Personal Nurse

Posted by realityrounds on July 16, 2009

I tend to become obsessed with the news du jour.  I was obsessed with OJ, Obama, Palin, Brittany, whatever.  I am a news junkie.  So it just makes sense that I have been watching every Dateline, 20/20, and Primetime Live about Michael Jackson.  What really struck me as odd (yes only one thing struck me as odd) was that MJ hired a personal physician for $175,000 a month.  Yes,  a month.  Granted, I only work part time, that doc made more in one month, than I make in TWO YEARS!!!  WTF!!!

Are you kidding me?  And Michael still died.  I am here to tell you, Michael would still be alive today, if he had only hired a personal nurse also.  Seriously, think about it.  Doctors order the meds and walk away.  Nurses stay with the patient, assess, console, make sure the patient is still breathing and sh*t.  Sigh I would have been perfect for the job.

Rest in Peace, King of Pop

wow. you work part time and still manage to make 87.5K a year? That rocks! i mean it still is NOT ENOUGH, but at least it means nursing wages are on the rise from when I was a nurse! Long may they continue to rise!

    • Amy,
I am cracking up right now! I make no where near 87.5 K a year. Sorry :( . Math was never my strong suit. I should have said, that the doctor makes more in one month at $175,000, than I make in THREE years, or maybe fours years. Sigh. I hate math!

$175k/month?? Good lord I’m loving nursing but that’s quite an incentive to go to med school and work for a celebrity – that way I can demand additional $$ for my nursing skills as well! Can you tell I’m just a little peeved about paying back a giant chunk of my student loan today? :P

From some reports I read, it sounded like MJ had a nurse on staff at one time or another.

However, one nurse told him she would not give him propofol…bet he just went out and found another at way less than what he paid the doc.

I just read/heard that he did have a nurse, and that she did refuse the whole propofol debacle.
    Sad state of affairs, really.
